Our Story
Our family business was created by John and Kath Nesbitt in the early 1990s as a Garden Nursery near Stokesley in North Yorkshire. Over the years, we have produced tens of thousands of baskets for local customers and businesses. After using different liners to make our own hanging baskets, we found most of them to be impractical and expensive. We decided to experiment using different material. We sourced a new material that ticked all the boxes needed to develop our own basket lining system – The Amateur’s Answer. This product was the ideal solution for our business and now many other gardeners – both amateur and professional – who use our liner for their own baskets.
We initially sold the Amateur’s Answer hanging basket liner at flower shows and country fairs doing demonstrations on how to create the perfect hanging basket using our product.
Today
John and Kath retired from the business in 2017 but the family have continued to create the Amateur’s Answer Hanging Basket Liner for our many loyal customers. We now operate online, selling the Amateur’s Answer garden products to customers around the world. We are a family run business now based in Chester and we hope to carry on providing the high standards of service to you all.
